In this article, we take a look at the best dehumidifiers for 1400 square feet spaces.

If you’re in the market for a new dehumidifier, the coverage rating is one of the most important considerations. If the dehumidifier isn’t rated to cover a space as large as yours, you won’t get very good performance.

Additionally, not all dehumidifiers for 1400 square feet are built equal, and there are some stinkers out there, masquerading as high-end units. That is why we compiled this list of the very best.

Midea’s dehumidifier for 1400 square feet combines a lot of our favorite features with an easy-to-use design. The performance also deserves praise, and we never felt the unit being taxed in 1400 square feet spaces.

We’ve tested and reviewed just about every dehumidifier worth buying. So if you want the most informed opinion, you came to the right place.

BEST OVERALL

At A Glance

Midea’s dehumidifier for 1400 square feet is very portable, but still has the performance to go toe-to-toe with the best.

Design

It’s larger than other dehumidifiers we’ve tested, but integrated casters and grab handles make it much easier to wheel around 1400 square foot spaces.

Capacity

The water tank on this 1400 square foot dehumidifier tips the scales at around 0.8 gallons. That’s fairly large for a dehumidifier of this spec.

Coverage

It is rated to cover just over 1500 square feet of space, so removing moisture from a 1400 square foot space is a cakewalk for this unit.

Speed

The manufacturer claims it can remove up to 22 pints of moisture from the air per day, which is more than enough for 1400 square foot spaces.

The fan speed is also fully adjustable, meaning you can play around with the settings to get optimal dehumidification.

Efficiency

This dehumidifier is Energy Star certified. It won’t run for free, and you’ll certainly notice a slight uptick in power consumption, but nothing too dramatic or concerning.

Drainage

The front-loading design makes it a lot easier to empty this dehumidifier regularly, and the water level indicator lets you know if it’s about time to do so with a quick glance.

Or, you could just set it to drain continuously and not have to think about it at all.

Noise Levels

This dehumidifier does have slightly higher operating noise, especially when the fans ramp up. That said, it’s still fairly quiet most of the time.

Special Features

This dehumidifier for 1400 square feet uses a washable filter, so you needn’t worry about replacing it every other month.

A ‘TURBO’ mode ramps up fan speed to the max, enabling even faster moisture removal for hot and heavy days.

It comes with an auto-defrost function, so that condensation buildup inside the unit doesn’t cause any damage.

And finally, if you want even more convenience, you can turn on the auto-humidity function and let the machine do its thing.

Who’s It For?

The Midea dehumidifier is pretty much the default choice for anyone looking to dehumidify a 1400 square foot space. It has all the performance you could possibly need, plus some cool features like auto-defrost and auto-humidity that add a lot of convenience.

hOmeLabs Dehumidifier for 1400 Sq. Ft

BEST BUDGET

At A Glance

The Homelabs is one of the most compact dehumidifiers for 1400 square feet. But make no mistake; this puppy still makes short work of even the most humid of spaces.

Design

‘Minimalism’ seems to be the theme of this unit. The design is clean and simple, if a bit taller than most others. We didn’t have any issues with placement, even in smaller nooks, so you should be good on that front.

Part of why it’s so easy-to-place is the ergonomic, 360-degree wheels and grab handles integrated into the build. The air filter is especially easy to remove and reinstall from its rear-mounted location.

Capacity

The tank size is in line with our top pick, at just under 0.8 gallons. But because of how this unit is set up, you might have to empty it out a bit more frequently, compared to our top pick.

Coverage

It’s a similar story with coverage. This dehumidifier can remove moisture from upto a 1500 square foot space. We were impressed by how effective the unit is in large spaces like living rooms, basements, and the like.

Speed

The fan comes with a couple different modes, including ‘comfort’, for normal moisture removal, and a high-performance, ‘turbo’ mode that can bump up airflow  to over 135 cubic feet per minute.

Efficiency

Expect slightly higher power consumption than other dehumidifiers, but again, nothing that you need to be concerned about. The Energy Star certification also goes a long way towards putting us at ease!

Drainage

We liked that this dehumidifier comes with a continuous drainage function, but weren’t too jazzed about the absence of a drain hose in the box.

Any ⅝” garden hose works well enough, but we’ll definitely be deducting some points.

Noise Levels

The only time we noticed any noise at all coming from this dehumidifier was when it had been running at the ‘turbo’ setting for a while. Other than that, it’s a well-behaved dehumidifier that doesn’t make much noise.

Special Features

If your house experiences a lot of power outages, this unit has an auto-restart function that also preserves all of your settings.

Washable filters are always welcome, as is the auto-defrost function that enables better performance and longevity for the unit.

Finally, the auto-shutdown feature means you’ll never have to contend with a leaky water tank.

Who’s It For?

The Homelabs is the perfect purchase if you want a compact dehumidifier for 1400 square feet that has all the performance of pricier units. You’ll have to source the drain hose yourself, but other than that, this unit is ready to go.

Pros
  • 0.8 gallon water tank
  • Removes 22 pints of moisture per day
  • 1500 sq-ft coverage
  • 135 cubic feet per minute max speed
  • Relatively compact
  • Ergonomic controls
  • Integrated wheels and grab handles
  • Comfort, continuous, and turbo fan speeds
  • Reasonably power-efficient
  • Continuous drainage
  • Auto-restart and shutdown
  • Washable filter eliminates the need for buying replacements
  • Auto-defrost
  • Quiet operation
Cons
  • May be a bit overpowered for some smaller apartments

Waykar Dehumidifier for 1400 Sq. Ft.

BEST PREMIUM

At A Glance

Waykar’s unit is a bit of an overachiever, as it’s meant for spaces larger than 1400 square feet. However, we still featured it since running high performance dehumidifiers in less demanding conditions helps them perform better.

Design

The first thing we noticed about the Waykar dehumidifier for 1400 square feet is how informative the digital display is. It provides a lot more info than other dehumidifiers, and the controls offer more adjustability.

Other stuff is as you’d expect from a high-performance dehumidifier for 1400 square feet. Wheels and handles for easy portability, taller proportions that help the unit slide into tight spots, and an ergonomically-situated drain hose outlet.

Capacity

Water tank capacity is down compared to our other contenders, but that’s the tradeoff for some other features that we’ll get into below.

0.66 gallons is still more than enough capacity for a 1400 square foot space. And surprisingly, we didn’t have to empty the tank that much more frequently compared to the 0.8 gallon unts.

Coverage

But the real star of the show here is the enhanced coverage capabilities of this dehumidifier. It is rated to cover around 2000 square feet of space, a full 600 higher than what you’re looking for.

However, the benefit here is that this unit has a higher performance ceiling. The 2000 square foot coverage rating means it will work even better when asked to remove moisture from a 1400 square foot space.

Speed

The fan speed is fully adjustable, and you have a couple different modes to choose from. Here, we found that even the low-speed setting made short work of humid spaces, with the high setting mostly reserved for extremely demanding scenarios in larger spaces.

At the high end, this dehumidifier can remove as much as 34 pints of moisture per day, putting it right up there.

Efficiency

This unit is thankfully pretty power-efficient, and we never had any unexpected hikes in the power bill. Still, it’s a high-performance unit, so it pays (literally) to use the timer function and maximize efficiency.

Drainage

Manual and automatic drainage options are available, and both work really well. Manually draining the tank is easy thanks to its ergonomic placement up front, and the fact that it turns on and off automatically when you take the tank out or put it back in.

Continuous drainage is as convenient as ever, thanks in no small part to the included drain hose (looking at you, Homelabs).

Noise Levels

Another advantage of this dehumidifier is that since it is rated to cover 2000 square feet, when used in a 1400 square foot space, it has all of that power in reserve. This negates the need for the fans to ramp up to full speed, which results in noticeably lower noise levels.

In fact, we never once noticed this dehumidifier get any louder than a light whisper, making it one of the quietest dehumidifiers for 1400 square feet.

Special Features

We talked briefly about the timer function, but it deserves more recognition. The timer on this dehumidifier allows you to schedule times for the unit to turn on or off, so you will be greeted to a comfy environment just as you get home.

The lack of a filter that needs regular replacement is always appreciated.

And lastly, you can set the exact target humidity you want to achieve, and the dehumidifier takes care of the rest. This takes the guesswork out of removing moisture from your space. All of these smart features are thanks to the use of sensors that measure the ambient temperature and relative humidity of your space.

Who’s It For?

Waykar’s 1400 square foot dehumidifier is for the person who wants absolutely silent dehumidifier operation. It’s also a great investment if you expect to have to remove moisture from spaces larger than 1400 square feet.

Pros
  • Portable design with casters
  • Digital info display
  • Shows you the relative humidity and ambient temperature
  • 2.5 liter water tank capacity
  • Rated to cover 2000 sq-ft
  • Auto drain for continuous drainage
  • Variable fan speeds
  • Can remove upto 34 pints of moisture per day
  • Energy efficient
  • Timer function
  • Auto on/off times can be scheduled
  • Washable filter
  • Lets you set the desired humidity level
  • Automatically turns off when the tank is full
  • Noise-free operation
Cons
  • A bit larger than most
