This article covers the best office humidifiers in 2023
A high-quality humidifier is essential for indoor spaces like offices that might not have the best ventilation.
Low humidity in offices and other indoor spaces can cause light-headedness, trouble breathing, dry throat, and other health problems.
Here, we’ll be recommending different humidifiers for different-sized spaces.
We focus on providing informed buying advice that is backed up by real-world research and testing.
If you want a humidifier for your desk, raydrop’s unit is the go-to.
For medium-sized office spaces, you want the higher coverage of the MistAire.
Finally, Levoit’s high-performance unit is worth looking into if you want humidification for the entire floor!
These humidifiers were chosen for their impressive performance and the specific features that make them great for office use.
Keep reading for more of our thoughts on the best humidifiers for offices.
Raydrop Cool Mist Office Humidifier
BEST FOR DESKS
At A Glance
Raydrop’s cool mist humidifier is the perfect desktop office humidifier. It has a petite design but decent performance.
The runtime is a bit lower than most but still good. Coverage could have been better, but remember that this is a budget-friendly office humidifier.
Design
This is one of the smallest humidifiers for the office. The compact design makes it easy to put on your desk, on a shelf, or anywhere that space is limited.
The whole unit is a bit taller than others, but overall, it’s a sleek package that is easy to store, set up, and use daily.
Compact styling is also great for when you need to clean the humidifier, as there’s just less surface area to deal with!
Speaking of cleaning and maintenance, this humidifier eliminates the need to replace the filter. It is a completely filter-free design, which only adds to the convenience.
Water Tank Capacity
One drawback of the smaller size is that water tank capacity takes a hit. This office humidifier holds less than 2 liters of water. It will require more frequent refills, which is a bummer.
The refill process is pretty straightforward, though. It uses a top-fill design that we found to be quite convenient.
Runtime
This office humidifier’s runtime isn’t as enduring as larger models.
The 2-liter water tank can only manage around 15 hours before it goes out. And that’s on lower mist volume settings. It’s the same story when you crank up mist volume.
But your average workday is probably around 8-10 hours. We found that we could get as much as 2 full days of desktop humidification on a full tank with the right settings.
That’s actually pretty good for an office humidifier of this size.
Coverage
The coverage of this office humidifier isn’t going to blow your socks off. We found the coverage to be decent for smaller rooms but noticeably lacking in larger spaces.
In fact, the manufacturer doesn’t even quote a coverage rating, which might concern a lot of people. For our purposes, we found that coverage is just good enough.
It won’t fill your office with mist, but if you’re sitting closer to it, the effect is similar to that of larger, high-performance office humidifiers.
Mist Volume
Raydrop’s office humidifier offers unexpectedly high maximum mist volume. It is rated at around 240 ml/hr, which helps it cover a space more quickly.
This humidifier required us to lower the mist volume when it was placed on our work desk. So it’s a small humidifier, but a capable one.
Mist volume can be controlled via a large knob on the front of the unit. The knob provides a lot of adjustability, and we liked how sensitive it is to user input. It also doubles as the power button.
Noise Levels
Smaller humidifier units have a tendency to be louder. The raydrop unit uses an ultrasonic setup, which is virtually silent.
We tried to coax out some decibels from this compact office humidifier, but even at higher mist volume, it stays nice and quiet.
The low-key operation is a feature we think your colleagues at the office will appreciate.
Special Features
It’s a small humidifier, but not without some tiny bells and whistles.
This unit has an auto-shutdown feature that turns the whole thing off when water runs out. It also has a cool mist feature that we found to be really great for sleep…err…focusing on the job!
Who’s It For?
Raydrop’s cool mist humidifier is for people who need a compact, budget-friendly humidifier unit that they can put on their desk at the office and are willing to sacrifice a bit of runtime and coverage.
Pros
- 2 liter water tank
- Up to 15 hours of constant use
- Smallest footprint
- Ideal for smaller spaces
- Lots of adjustment for the mist volume
- Large knob for adjusting volume
- Maximum mist volume of 240 ml/hr
- Cool mist function
- Cool mist improves sleep and reduces snoring
- Helps relieve symptoms of congestion
- Auto shutdown feature
- Whisper quiet operation
- Top-fill design for easier refills
- Filter-free design
- Inexpensive humidifier for congestion
Cons
- Not best suited for humidifying larger spaces
GENIANI Huron Office Humidifier
BEST FOR MEDIUM-SIZED OFFICE
At A Glance
The Geniani Huron cranks up the performance compared to Raydrop’s offering. It has a couple extra features that come really handy in the office.
The higher coverage means you can even use this unit in larger meeting rooms.
Design
Geniani nailed it with the design of this office humidifier. It is a modern, high-tech-looking humidifier unit, but the size is still manageable for day-to-day use.
We love the thin LED strip that runs down the front of this unit. It’s meant to function as a nightlight, but even for office use, it provides an excellent design detail that doesn’t go unnoticed.
The larger size might require you to put this humidifier somewhere other than the desk, but we didn’t have any issues with placement or setup.
Refilling the tank is done via an opening at the top. We found that this large opening reduces accidental spills and makes it easier to refill the tank quickly.
Water Tank Capacity
The water tank capacity is higher than on the raydrop. In fact, it is almost twice as large, coming in at a respectable 4 liters.
There are larger capacity humidifiers available, but this one should be more than enough for most people.
And if you really need the volume, Geniani offers this very unit in various water tank capacities, from 2 liters, all the way up to 6 liters.
Runtime
The obvious benefit of the larger water tank is higher runtime. Here, we could get almost 20 hours on a full tank, which easily gets you through 3 workdays.
The runtime also doesn’t drop off as sharply when you kick its volume into high gear. Even with higher mist volume settings, we were treated to around 15 hours on a full tank.
Coverage
Coverage is probably this humidifier’s biggest improvement over the Raydrop unit. The manufacturer rates it at a respectable 220 sq-ft. That means you don’t have to put the unit as close for it to work effectively.
In our experience, 220 sq-ft is plenty to cover most medium-ish office spaces. It doesn’t seem very impressive on paper, but it works pretty well in an indoor office space.
Mist Volume
Water diffusion is handled by an ultrasonic diffuser that creates micron-sized mist particles. The smaller size helps the mist particles spread around the room more effectively and quickly.
We found that it can manage up to around 270 ml/hr, which is an appreciable upgrade over the Raydrop. You have 3 different humidity levels to choose from and 4 speed settings.
It makes for noticeably faster humidification, and the coverage is more consistent over larger spaces. So you get the same level of humidity at different spots in your office space.
Noise Levels
This unit is also very quiet. The ultrasonic diffuser never made a peep, and the unique nozzle design also eliminates any residual sound the mist may have made while being released into the air.
Special Features
The Huron has a couple nifty tricks up its sleeve that a lot of its competitors haven’t quite mastered.
You get a filter-free design that doesn’t require any replacement. The unit features an essential oil diffuser that lets you get some aromatherapy going.
And the nozzle can be adjusted 360 degrees to direct mist wherever you want.
Who’s It For?
Geniani’s Huron is for the person who needs to humidify medium-sized office spaces and wants to do away with the hassle of frequent refills and filter replacements. You are also treated to a few more features than with other models.
Pros
- Small and compact design
- 4 liter water tank
- 15-hour runtime
- 220 sq-ft coverage rating
- Ideal for smaller rooms and spaces
- Filter free design
- Budget-friendly humidifier
- Adjustable mist speed
- 3 preset mist levels
- Extremely quiet
- Integrated essential oil diffuser
- Ultrasonic humidifier for micron-sized mist
- Integrated nightlight
Cons
- Maximum mist volume could have been higher
LEVOIT Humidifiers for Large Office
BEST FOR LARGE OFFICE
At A Glance
This office humidifier is perfect for humidifying large, open spaces. It features the highest water tank capacity, the best coverage, and the most useful suite of features.
Design
All of that performance and features have to be housed somewhere. The Levoit unit is larger than the others on this list. It will definitely need its own dedicated nook in your office.
The larger size does have its benefits, though. You get a more voluminous water tank, the display and controls are more easily accessible, and you get a ton more features.
From a usability standpoint, the wider opening on the top is ideal for refilling the tank without spilling any water.
Plus, the fact that the tank is see-through means you can easily spot any contaminant/mineral buildup in the tank before they cause damage.
Water Tank Capacity
Speaking of the water tank, it is the highest capacity option on this list. As the saying goes, ‘No replacement for displacement.’
The Levoit’s water tank comes at a whopping 6 liters, enabling longer runtime, faster humidification, and more time between refills.
Runtime
Runtime is equally as impressive. We could get more than 40 hours of constant humidification on medium mist volume settings.
Even with regular use, the tank did not need to be refilled more than once every 4 or 5 days!
Coverage
The combination of a large water tank and high-performance ultrasonic diffuser means you get best-in-class coverage. This unit is rated to cover over 750 sq-ft of space.
That should be enough to humidify even the largest of office spaces. And just because it’s so capable at the high-end doesn’t mean it lacks at all down low.
In fact, you get noticeably better performance at lower mist volumes compared to other units.
Mist Volume
This unit gives you complete control over the amount of mist it produces. You can expect a maximum mist volume of over 500 ml/hr, which makes quick work of dry air.
Levoit’s unit performed exceptionally well in our tests, offering the fastest and most effective humidification of any office humidifier.
And the mist was never overpowering or too much. All we got was a fine, micron-sized mist that spread around larger spaces faster.
Noise Levels
It is a larger office humidifier, so we were expecting at least some noise when using more demanding features. However, the Levoit kept noise levels to a manageable minimum.
Not once did we notice the diffuser or the fan become too loud or start to intrude on our work.
Special Features
And finally, we have this office humidifier’s unique features. Hunker down cause it’s gonna take a while to go over all of them.
Auto mode is one of this unit’s features that we find insanely useful. Unfortunately, it was missing on the last two office humidifiers.
It uses sensors integrated into the unit to measure relative humidity and automatically adjust the mist settings accordingly.
You get both cool and warm mist modes, each of which has its own benefits. Warm mist is great if you’re trying to counter the effects of flu, congestion, and dry throat.
Cool mist, on the other hand, makes your surroundings a bit more pleasant and even improves sleep quality.
We touched briefly on the aromatherapy function, but it deserves praise for delivering a smooth, subtle fragrance alongside the humidification.
The extra money you spend gets you a remote control for configuring various features and controls. Or, if you want, you can also pair this office humidifier to your phone via an app and control everything from there.
Lastly, this unit is completely filter-free, so you don’t have to go through the hassle of replacing it every other month.
Who’s It For?
Levoit’s office humidifier is for the person who wants the absolute best in performance and wants to be able to cover larger spaces. It comes with the most features and capabilities of any unit we’ve tested, so you definitely get your money’s worth.
