This buying guide recommends the best humidifiers for smokers.

Smoking is seriously injurious to health and causes a variety of problems such as smoker’s cough, inflammation, dry throat, and even dry skin.

While humidifiers won’t cure any of these, they can certainly help alleviate some symptoms. Alternatively, a humidifier may even help you deal with odors if you smoke indoors.

For a quick recommendation, Levoit’s ultrasonic humidifier for smokers is our top pick.

This unit features a high capacity water tank, impressive coverage, and an essential oil diffuser that lets you counter the smell of smoke.

If you’re looking for a high quality humidifier to help you deal with the effects of smoking, leave it to us. We review and compare all kinds of humidifiers to help you find the best one for your needs.

LEVOIT Ultrasonic Humidifier for Smokers

OVERALL BEST

Levoit’s flagship humidifier is one of the best we’ve seen. Every feature is turned up to 11 to ensure you get the best performance and lifespan.

Larger water tank, adjustable everything, and an essential oil diffuser for dealing with odors.

The water tank capacity of this unit caught our eye. 6 liters is the highest you can get on most consumer humidifiers for smokers, and it does not go unnoticed. Runtime is in the high 40 hour range, even with higher mist volume settings!

If you find yourself needing quick humidification, the Levoit has you covered. It sports a maximum mist volume of around 500 ml/hr. Besides faster humidification, that also enables a higher coverage rating; over 750 sq-ft to be precise.

Most other humidifiers don’t even come close to that rating, so feel free to set this unit up in your bedroom, nursery, living room, warehouse, airplane hanger, indoor hockey stadium, etc. No matter the size of your space, the Levoit just keeps chugging along.

One cool feature of this humidifier for smokers is the auto mode. It’s great for when you’re not in the mood to mess around with a million settings to get the perfect amount of humidity in your space. Just turn it on and intelligent sensors will take care of the rest.

That being said, the auto mode does tend to under-humidify in our experience. Still, it works well enough most of the time, so we’re willing to ignore the occasional hiccup.

But then the Levoit makes up for that shortcoming with the inclusion of cool and warm mist modes. The benefit of these will be apparent to seasoned humidifier enthusiasts.

Warm mist is more effective at opening up your sinuses and relieving symptoms of coughing, dry throat and nose, and the like. Switch over to cool mist, and you’ll be treated to higher quality sleep that is devoid of snoring.

If you smoke indoors, you’ll be happy to know that this humidifier comes with an aromatherapy function. Load it up with your favorite essential oil or other scent, and kiss those odors goodbye.

Next up, we have full remote control capability, though we would have liked to see some kind of app integration as well.

This humidifier for smokers has a leg up over the competition thanks to the filter-free design. That means less time and money spent replacing filters. Just be careful not to use tap water, as it could cause mineral build up in the tank.

Pros
  • Large 6 liter water tank
  • Almost 50 hour runtime
  • Over 750 sq-ft of coverage
  • Maximum mist volume of 500 ml/hr
  • Best in class humidification
  • Fully adjustable mist speed/volume
  • Auto humidity control offered
  • Impressive cool/warm mist mode
  • Excellent choice for smokers
  • Aromatherapy function
  • Cleaning brush, aroma pads, and absorption pads included in the box
  • Remote control available
Cons
  • Filter-free design is not suitable for hard water in Colorado

Everlasting Comfort Humidifier for Smokers

BEST BUDGET

With a name like Everlasting Comfort, we were expecting big things from this humidifier for smokers. And save for a few niggles here and there (courtesy of the budget price), it’s one of the best in its class.

This inexpensive humidifier for smokers has a lot to like. Starting off with the basics, you get a voluminous 6 liter water tank. Runtime and coverage are, therefore, really impressive.

To be a bit more specific, you can expect anywhere between 40 and 45 hours of constant usage out of this budget-friendly humidifier. Sure, that’s lower than our top pick by a hair, but the price is lower by a wig!

Mist volume adjustment is present and appreciated, if a bit lacking compared to pricier options. You can configure the mist volume between 120 ml/hr and 270 ml/hr. Only in this day and age are numbers like that considered anything but amazing.

But unless you’re trying to bring up the humidity of small planets, the mist volume settings of this humidifier for smokers provide ample adjustment.

It gets a coverage rating of around 500 sq-ft, easily muscling out the competition at this lower price point. We didn’t have any problem covering larger spaces with consistent moisture levels throughout the space.

Getting into some less-than-ideal aspects of this humidifier, we have to report that it runs a tad bit louder than others. To be fair, the noise levels aren’t so high that they’ll wake you up if you sleep with the humidifier running. But they’re still a bit higher than usual, so it’s worth mentioning.

Essential oil diffusers are a rarity at this price point, but the Everlasting Comfort manages to fit one in. The filter-less design is also appreciated, helping make this budget-friendly humidifier even less expensive to own and operate.

An auto-shutdown feature is always nice to see, and ensures no harm comes to the sensitive internal components of your humidifier.

So how does it perform in the real world? Well, it’s an ultrasonic humidifier for smokers so you can expect consistent humidification. The mist is made of micron-sized particles of water, so you don’t have to put up with irritation, as with some cheaper units.

Still, the lower price shows through in other areas. For one, you don’t get cool/warm mist modes, or an auto mode, which was a real disappointment.

Overall though, we have to say we’re pretty impressed by the performance of this budget-friendly humidifier for smokers.

It is well-built and efficient, has plenty of features and adjustability options, and doesn’t cost nearly as much as similarly performing options, earning it our highest recommendation.

Pros
  • Well built and durable humidifier
  • 6 liter water tank
  • Maximum runtime of 45 hour
  • Coverage rating of 500 sq-ft
  • Comes with an essential oil diffuser
  • Configurable mist level
  • Customizable mist volume: 120ml/hour to 270ml/hour
  • Filter-less design
  • Automatic shutdown feature when water runs out
  • Ultrasonic humidifier produces fine mist
  • Inexpensive humidifier
Cons
  • A bit louder than other humidifiers
  • Cool and warm mist functions missing
  • No automatic humidity control

Hupro Humidifier for Smokers

PREMIUM CHOICE

And finally, we have the Hupro humidifier for smokers. This is one of the absolute best units you can buy, with every feature and spec bump you could want. You’ll definitely be paying for the privilege though, as it’s also one of the more expensive units out there.

Let’s switch gears and talk about design and build quality. This humidifier for smokers sports a sexy, all-black exterior that wouldn’t look out of place in an art gallery. Sure, it’s still made of durable plastic, but the glossy exterior gets points.

The 5.5 liter water capacity is actually a bit lower than even the budget-friendly option on this list. But it’s not the size of the tank, it’s how you use it! And in the case of Hupro’s humidifier for smokers, you get the same 40 hour runtime with high mist as other options, despite the lower volume.

We suspect the smaller tank was implemented to save a bit of space and weight. If so, mission accomplished. This humidifier for smokers is surprisingly compact. It is a bit taller than most, but doesn’t weigh as much, making it easier to move around.

Jumping into the feature set, you get the full monty, starting with an intelligent auto mode that takes the guesswork out of humidity settings. Hupro’s engineers seem to have done their homework, as the auto mode works better than on any other unit.

You have plenty of options on the manual adjustment side of things as well. The 3 different speed levels are great for when you need to humidify larger spaces faster. Or you can choose from one of the constant humidity settings and just let it run.

Coverage is among the best we’ve seen in any humidifier for smokers. It is rated for just under 600 sq-ft. Larger rooms and spaces were easy to humidify, and we didn’t have to deal with any dead spots, as with humidifiers that have lower coverage ratings.

It wouldn’t be a premium humidifier for smokers without cool and warm mist modes. Hupro offers both, and we’re happy to report that the difference between modes is actually quite noticeable. The warm mode makes for a cozy feeling, while the cool mist is nice and pleasant on warm days.

Another feature that’ll make your surroundings feel a lot more pleasant is the aromatherapy function. The arona tray takes most essential oils, so you can enjoy your favorite scent while simultaneously humidifying the surroundings.

Mist volume is fully adjustable, though you’ll have to settle for a paltry 400 ml/hr maximum volume. Oh, however will we survive!

We joke, but 400 ml/hr is actually noticeably lower than our top pick on this list. In fact, the same can be sad for the water tank capacity, the runtime, and the coverage rating. And while all of those features are ‘good enough’ on the Hupro, you might be wondering where all the extra money goes.

Well, we were wondering the same thing. Put simply, you pay for the addition of a ceramic water filter in this humidifier for smokers. For the uninitiated, a ceramic filter is a special type of water filter that performs better than traditional alternatives.

This particular model has a ceramic filter that uses active carbon and mineral pellets to filter water at a microscopic level. The result is cleaner water, which in turn gives you cleaner, safer mist.

If you are a heavy smoker in need of a humidifier, we highly recommend this one. The cleaner mist has a milder effect on your respiratory system, and ensures that there are no contaminants that could make your symptoms even worse.

Plus, you don’t have to go through the trouble of replacing the filter every other week. It might sound like a small thing, but makes a world of difference in the experience.

Another premium feature that we think smoker’s will appreciate is their ionization function. It is a feature that only Hupro offers. It works by creating as many as 300 million air cleansing ions per minute.

This, combined with the ceramic filter, gives you some of the cleanest mist possible. You get significantly less irritants, microbes, dust and other particles in the mist, compared to other humidifiers.

And finally, the Hupro has a couple other features that help justify the higher price. You get both on-device touch controls and a handy remote. The LED display is another feature exclusive to this unit, and really useful for monitoring your settings. As for operating noise levels…well, they’re pretty much non-existent.

Pros
  • Compact and easy to position
  • 5.5 liter capacity
  • 500 sq-ft coverage rating
  • Maximum 45 hour runtime
  • Fully configurable mist levels
  • 3 different speeds
  • Effective warm and cool mist modes
  • Auto mode offered
  • Air ionization feature
  • Produces 300 million cleansing ions/min
  • Aromatherapy function
  • Comes with a ceramic filter
  • Active carbon, mineral pellets used for filter
  • Removes microbes, contaminants, dust from water
  • Ideal for allergies
  • No need to replace filter
  • Multi-function LED display
  • Remote and touch controls
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Humidifiers with larger water tanks available
