GENIANI Huron Cool Mist Humidifier
BEST OVERALL
At A Glance
Geniani’s Huron is the bell of the ball. It has a simple, kind of understated look. But make no mistake, it’s a serious contender with its large water tank, expansive coverage area, and useful feature set.
Design
The design of the Huron has a modern, almost minimalist vibe to it. It looks high-tech, with clean, straightforward styling.
Some folks might think that it is a bit too subtle, as it has a tendency to go unnoticed in most settings. But we think that’s one of this stylish humidifier’s biggest strengths. It does not stand out or look flashy to attract attention, but catches the eye naturally.
The Huron manages to stay relatively compact too, especially when you consider how feature-heavy it actually is.
The small LED strip is in line with the rest of the design, as it’s not too bright or gaudy. Instead, it is just powerful enough to function as a nightlight, without being too distracting or annoying.
And lastly, this sleek humidifier also manages to incorporate a top-fill design into the build. This reduces spills while refilling, and the wider opening makes it easier to refill the humidifier.
Water Tank Capacity
Moving on, we have the water tank of this stylish humidifier. It is sized quite generously at 4 liters. That is more than enough for most use cases, and you won’t feel the tank capacity lacking.
One cool thing about this awesome looking humidifier is that Geniani uses the same design for a couple other models as well. That means if you need more or less water tank capacity, you’ve got options from as low as 2 liters to as high as 6 liters.
Runtime
This humidifier has surprisingly high endurance, given the slim design. You can expect around 20 hours of constant operation, and the drop-off in runtime with higher mist volume settings isn’t as noticeable as on other models we’ve tested.
Even at higher mist volume settings, we got as much as16 hours on a full tank.
Coverage
Coverage is pretty good, if not amazing. It is rated to cover 220 sq-ft, and we can attest to each and every inch! This coverage rating does mean that the unit will work best in small to medium-sized spaces.
But it easily outperforms other units in this category. We found the humidification to be consistent throughout every space we tested this unit in, indicating better performance.
Mist Volume
Geniani’s stylish humidifier uses an ultrasonic diffuser for creating mist. It produces a fine mist, which is great for faster humidification. It also doesn’t cause that feeling of breathlessness you get with other units that produce a thicker mist.
At the high end, this stylish humidifier can output a mist volume of around 270 ml/hr. You can choose from 3 different humidity level settings, and 4 speed settings.
Again, the higher mist volume means you get faster, more consistent humidification over larger spaces.
Noise Levels
The Huron’s noise levels are virtually imperceptible. Besides the ultrasonic diffuser, the unique design of the nozzle also deserves credit for making this stylish humidifier one of the quietest we’ve ever tested.
The nozzle is specifically designed to eliminate that slight hissing sound that some humidifiers make when releasing mist into the air.
Special Features
And it’s not just a pretty face. The Huron has a couple cool tricks up its sleeve.
It eliminates the need for using a filter, so you won’t have to go through the hassle of buying a replacement every other month.
This humidifier comes with an essential oil tray, making it not only one of the best-looking humidifiers, but also one of the best-smelling!
And finally, that nozzle we mentioned can be rotated 360 degrees, allowing you to direct the mist to a specific part of the room.
Who’s It For?
Geniani’s Huron is for the person who needs to humidify small to medium-sized spaces. It has plenty of performance and features, all in a futuristic package that is among the best looking and stylish humidifiers we’ve seen.
Pros
- Small and compact design
- 4 liter water tank
- 15-hour runtime
- 220 sq-ft coverage rating
- Ideal for smaller rooms and spaces
- Filter free design
- Budget-friendly humidifier
- Adjustable mist speed
- 3 preset mist levels
- Extremely quiet
- Integrated essential oil diffuser
- Ultrasonic humidifier for micron-sized mist
- Integrated nightlight
Cons
- Maximum mist volume could have been higher
HomeLabs Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier
BEST BUDGET
At A Glance
Homelabs’ cool mist humidifier is a budget-friendly unit that looks like a piece of modern art. And despite the inexpensive price, it manages to match our top pick in terms of performance and features.
Design
Homelabs absolutely nailed it with the design of this cool mist humidifier. The unit itself is made of high quality material and finished with a premium paint job to boot.
It is wider at the top and tapers to a narrow base. This is in stark contrast to other tall humidifiers that have wide bases and a narrow top for added stability.
Instead, this stylish humidifier is kept stable by the 4 legs at the base. This is another oddity in the world of stylish humidifiers, as they are usually flat-bottomed or have small rubber feet at most.
Not so with Homelabs’ best looking humidifier. The legs are larger for added stability. They are actually trimmed in a faux wood finish that complements the otherwise stark humidifier design.
That same wood finish is seen on the convenient top lid for easier refilling. Overall, this is one of the best looking and stylish humidifiers we’ve used.
Water Tank Capacity
The water tank capacity of this unit is anything but budget. It comes in at a whopping 4 liters, giving our top pick a run for its money.
But what really sets this humidifier apart is how efficient it is. This is apparent from the fact that it has the same water tank capacity as our top pick, but significantly better runtime.
When it does start running low though, there’s a water level indicator that tells you it’s time for a refill.
And when you need to clean the humidifier, the tank can be detached, making it easier to get those hard-to-reach spots.
Runtime
That runtime is around 30 hours of constant operation on high mist volume settings. Lower mist volume settings enable you to get up to around 35 hours of runtime.
We found ourselves having to refill the humidifier a lot less than other models we tested, which is really convenient for regular use.
Coverage
Coverage is on par with our top pick as well. It is rated to cover just over 200 sq-ft of space, which is plenty for most small-medium sized rooms. This rating also leads the budget category, so we were quite pleased by the Homelab’s performance.
Mist Volume
Max mist volume is rated at 300 ml/hr. This high rate of mist production means you get swift humidification and improved consistency over larger surface areas.
We have no complaints with regard to the mist volume in different spots in a room. Homelabs’ humidifier gave us uniform humidification throughout a space.
You get 3 preset humidity levels. We would have liked to see some more customizability with this feature, but it works well enough, so we can’t be too mad.
Noise Levels
It’s an ultrasonic humidifier, so we were expecting it to be quiet. We weren’t prepared for just how quiet, though! This stylish humidifier doesn’t make much noise, even when we crank up the mist volume all the way.
Special Features
It may be budget -friendly, but it doesn’t lack for some cool features.
For one, you get an integrated essential oil diffuser with this humidifier. It works pretty well, and diffuses fragrances throughout the room effectively. Homelabs even provide 5 cotton pads to be used in the aroma tray, which is a nice addition.
Unlike other budget friendly humidifiers, this one doesn’t have any buttons or knobs to mar the sleek design. It uses an integrated touch panel that works quite well for changing the various settings.
It uses a unique carbon filter that is better for filtering out dust and other contaminants from the water. This filter can last up to 4 months, reducing how often you have to change it out.
A timer with 3 preset time settings is also featured, though we wish we could have set custom intervals.
Who’s It For?
Homelabs’ humidifier is for the person who wants a unique, stylish humidifier, but doesn’t want to compromise on features, or pay an arm and a leg! It’s a great package with useful features, and one of the best looking humidifiers we’ve tested.
Pros
- 4 liter water tank
- Upto 35 hour runtime
- 3 humidity levels
- Maximum 300 ml/hr mist volume
- Virtually silent
- Coverage rating of 215 sq-ft
- Sleep mode
- Detachable water tank
- Easy to clean
- Touch controls
- Timer function
- Carbon filter for better filtration
- Budget friendly
- Essential oil diffuser
Cons
- Timer function should have had customizable intervals
Sharper Image Ultrasonic Humidifier
PREMIUM CHOICE
At A Glance
True to its name, the Sharper Image is one sharp-looking humidifier unit. It also has some unique features that no other humidifier on this list offers, and the performance is a cut above most of its rivals as well.
Design
This stylish humidifier is all about the looks. The design combines a unique brushed metal and wood look that is the perfect marriage of modern and traditional. The whole humidifier is still made of high quality plastic, but the unique finish gives it the metallic look.
Even the carry handle is cleverly integrated into the design such that it doesn’t stand out or ruin the look of this humidifier.
The see-through water tank gives it a minimalist look, while also functioning as a window that lets you catch any build up or mineral deposits quickly.
And then we have the base of the humidifier, which is trimmed in a beautiful wooden look. This is easily the best looking and most stylish humidifier on this list.
Water Tank Capacity
Water tank capacity is on the high end, even for a humidifier of this size. It measures in at around 5.6 liters, which beats the next best thing by a fair bit.
We aren’t the biggest fans of the refill process, though. It is a bit more complicated than other humidifiers, as you have to remove the container and unscrew the lid. This requires you to flip the entire thing upside down, which is really inconvenient.
Runtime
Runtime is also a bit of a mixed bag. To be fair, lower mist volume settings will get you around 25 hours, which is in line with the other units on this list. But set the humidifier to higher mist volume settings, and you’ll be lucky to get 15 hours on a full tank.
This is a bit disappointing on a humidifier that looks this good and has such a large water tank. So if it has high capacity and low runtime, where’s all that water going?
Mist Volume
Unlike the other stylish humidifiers we’ve talked about, this one goes all out with the mist volume. The manufacturer isn’t really forthcoming with exact figures. Perhaps they’re just being modest.
We measured the maximum mist volume of this stylish humidifier to be around 350 ml/hr. That easily beats out all of the other contenders, and also explains where all that water goes!
It has 3 preset modes for the humidity level, and all three provide speedy humidification. The lowest output mode on this humidifier actually puts out more mist per hour than the highest output mode of other units.
Coverage
Such high mist volume nukes runtime, but greatly enhances the coverage rating. Again, the manufacturer is a bit hush-hush with the exact figures, but we can tell from experience that this humidifier can easily cover most medium-sized rooms, and even some larger spaces.
Suffice it to say, we do not have any complaints with the coverage of this stylish humidifier.
Noise Levels
One qualm we do have with this awesome-looking humidifier is the noise levels.
Now, it’s not like this humidifier kept us up at night or made a racket that was super noticeable. However, it was a tad bit louder than the other options we’ve recommended.
It’s just loud enough that if you’re the lightest sleeper on the planet, it might even wake you from your slumber. Still, it should be enough for most people.
Special Features
One feature that sets this unit apart from the rest is the auto humidity mode. This mode uses integrated sensors to measure relative humidity and then intelligently boost or lower the mist volume to regulate humidity.
The filter-free design is great for if you don’t want to have to replace a filter every now and again.
You get an array of touch sensitive LED buttons up front, which lets you control the various settings and modes. Speaking of, the power button seen here also doubles as the low water level indicator.
Not that you have to worry about the unit running after water runs out, thanks to the auto-shutoff feature.
One premium feature that was sorely missed on the other humidifiers we tested, was the inclusion of cool and warm mist modes. But while this humidifier does have it, the warm mist mode isn’t the most noticeable, which is a shame.
Who’s It For?
We would have liked to say that this stylish humidifier is for the person who wants the best looking humidifier that doesn’t compromise on any features or performance. However, while it is definitely the best looking humidifier, it does fall short in other places, such as the rather loud operation, lackluster warm mist mode, and the complicated refill process.
Still, if you want the absolute best-looking humidifier, there’s really nothing else quite like this.
Pros
- Unique design with wooden base and brushed metal accents (made of plastic)
- 5.6 liter water tank
- Upto 25 hours of runtime
- Almost 350 ml/hr max mist volume
- 3 humidity levels
- Can easily cover medium to large-sized spaces
- Fastest humidification of any unit on this list
- Touch sensitive LED controls
- Cool and warm mist modes
- Integrated grab handle that doesn’t ruin the look
- Filter free design
- No need to get filter replaced every other month
Cons
- Hard to refill
- Warm mist mode isn’t particularly effective
- A bit louder than others
