This is our review of the best humidifiers for baby nurseries.
It’s natural for newborns and infants to keep you up at night. But if your little one is having difficulty getting a good night’s sleep, a baby nursery humidifier might soothe them.
That is why we tested the best, the worst, and every baby nursery humidifier in between, to make sure you get the best bang for your buck, and your baby gets the best sleep.
The Frida Baby nursery humidifier is a jack-of-all-trades and our top pick. This simple baby nursery humidifier has great runtime and impressive coverage. It also has some extra useful features that we’ll get into below.
Keep reading for more of our thoughts on the best humidifiers for baby nurseries.
Frida Baby 3-in-1 Humidifier
BEST OVERALL
Frida Baby’s nursery humidifier combines a humidifier, essential oil diffuser, and nightlight. It sports a premium quality build and a high-end diffuser for a fine mist.
The design reminded us of traditional Japanese rice balls, and the glossy white exterior only bolsters that comparison. The entire outer shell is actually an LED panel that lets you cycle through 3 different colors.
If you’re looking for a humidifier for your baby’s nursery, it’s good to have some mood lighting that functions as a nightlight.
Overall, the build is about as sturdy as it gets for a plastic nursery humidifier. We didn’t notice any issues with fitment or durability, so it should survive a drop if your baby is still in the ‘throw everything in sight’ phase.
This nursery humidifier comes with an unprecedented 0.5-gallon water capacity. That may seem overkill, but it enables a runtime of around 10 hours with constant operation.
Similarly, thanks to the larger tank, you get better room coverage. It is rated to cover a maximum of a 320 square foot room. And if your baby’s nursery is that big, we’d love it if you would adopt us! We’re housebroken, eat all our vegetables, and always put away our toys.
So how does it perform for humidification? Suffice it to say, it’s one of the best baby nursery humidifiers we’ve ever tested. It uses an ultrasonic pump setup which facilitates consistently fine mist production.
What’s more, the level of mist being produced is controlled by a convenient knob that also doubles as the power button.
You’ll also notice a smaller, touch-sensitive button right above the knob. That’s used to cycle through the 3 different colors. We do wish there were more than 3 colors to choose from or a soft pulsing function for night light use, but no such luck.
Another excellent feature is the adjustable mist nozzle directing the mist to one spot. We think this is an excellent feature for baby nurseries, where the smaller area might get too humid in one place.
Lastly, you get an auto-shutoff function that turns the pump off when water runs out. Even the best humidifiers can overheat or have electrical issues, so this feature is non-negotiable if you use the humidifier in a baby nursery.
Oh, and before we forget, this humidifier can also be used as an essential oil diffuser. However, we wouldn’t recommend doing so if your baby is a newborn.
Pros
- Well-built and durable

- Ultrasonic water pump

- 10-hour runtime

- The control knob regulates the amount of mist
- 360-degree adjustable mist nozzle
- Automatically turns off when water runs out

Cons
- Only 3 night light colors are available
AquaOasis Cool Mist Humidifier
BEST BUDGET
AquaOasis’ cool mist humidifier is purpose-built for baby nurseries. It has some handy features, such as a large water tank, an adjustable mist nozzle, and virtually silent operation.
This is one of the quietest and most non-intrusive baby nursery humidifiers we’ve tested. Even when running at full blast, it barely makes a peep, so your baby should be able to sleep in peace.
For a budget-friendly nursery humidifier, this one has impressive water tank capacity. A full tank holds around half a gallon, putting this inexpensive baby nursery humidifier right up there with pricier options.
The large water tank has the obvious benefit of delivering longer runtime. The manufacturer claims around 24 hours, but we suspect that might have been tested on the lowest mist setting. In our experience, the actual number is closer to about 12 or 13 hours, with the mist volume set slightly higher.
That brings us to the next feature of this baby nursery humidifier that deserves praise. It has a similar knob for controlling the amount of mist as the Frida Baby. In our testing, we found that this knob is a bit less sensitive than the one on that humidifier, but it works well enough.
Another carryover from pricier baby nursery humidifiers is the adjustable mist nozzle. Its simple rotating design offers 360-degree adjustment, perfect for whichever room or space you put this humidifier in.
One feature that was sorely missed on this humidifier was any kind of night light functionality. Given the budget-friendly price, we guess the LED was axed in favor of the larger tank. We would have liked to see some mood lighting on this baby nursery humidifier.
Still, there’s plenty to be excited about with the AquaOasis. The ultrasonic water pump works flawlessly. Again, this pump’s adjustability is slightly limited, but that’s expected at this price point.
And if you want to save even more money, this baby nursery humidifier removes the need for buying replacement filters with its filter-free design. That and the inclusion of a cleaning brush in the box shows how budget-friendly this thing really is.
This baby nursery humidifier is enough for even the largest rooms and spaces. If you want even more water tank capacity, better runtime, and less refilling, AquaOasis make an absolutely gargantuan 1.5-liter version. You’ll have to pay for the extra volume. Still, it’s worth considering if your humidification needs are slightly more conservative than most.
Pros
- 0.5-gallon water tank
- Ideal for larger rooms
- 1.5-gallon version also offered
- Adjustable mist nozzle
- Ultrasonic water pump
- Fine mist production
- Control knob for regulating the exact amount of mist
- Constant runtime between 12 and 14 hours
- By far the quietest baby nursery humidifier
- Budget-friendly
- Decent build quality
- Filter-less design
- No need to buy replacement filters
- The cleaning brush included in the box
Cons
- No night light/mood lighting functionality
- Mist level adjustment is limited compared to pricier options.
Crane Adorables Ultrasonic Humidifier
BEST PREMIUM
Crane’s Adorables line of humidifiers is the perfect complement to the decor of your baby’s nursery. It features fun, toy-like designs that offer a colorful break from the usual monotone humidifier design. But make no mistake, the actual humidifier’s performance is uncompromised.
Let’s kick it off with the design of these humidifiers. Each one is designed to appeal to young children. One looks like an elephant with a mist nozzle for a trunk, and another is a hippo that snorts mist out of its nose!
All of them are colorful and eye-catching, perfect for the modern nursery setting. Put these humidifiers on your baby’s toy shelf, and it’ll look right at home.
That toy-like design actually concerned us a bit initially. We weren’t sure the humidifiers would be able to hold up over time, but they surprised us. The actual humidifiers are really well built and the durability didn’t give us any pause.
We should mention that we tested this humidifier’s ‘elephant’ version. We lovingly named him Eli. Original, we know.
This is definitely one of the more expensive baby nursery humidifiers. So how did Eli perform? Well, ‘he’ uses the best ultrasonic pump of any humidifier on this list. The result is a micron-sized mist that is neither too harsh nor underwhelming. You can set the level of mist to your liking, and there’s a surprising amount of adjustability.
The price is also justified by the large-sized water tank, which comes in at a full gallon. That is already more than the other humidifiers on this list, and depending on the mist volume you set, you can get as much as 18 hours of usage!
With the larger water tank capacity comes even more impressive coverage. In fact, this baby nursery humidifier is rated to humidify rooms up to 500 sq-ft. Again, that’s the highest rating on the list, so we think the higher price is worth it.
And while we aren’t too happy that we had to twist poor Eli’s head all the way around, it did allow us to adjust the direction of the mist. Thankfully, there’s also an ‘owl’ version of this humidifier, which should feel a bit more natural!
Another plus is the whisper-quiet operation. It is a larger humidifier, so expect a bit more sound, though nothing you or your baby would notice while sleeping.
As for drawbacks, the toy-like design and the high performance might be a little bit at odds. What we mean is that the 500 sq-ft, 18-hour runtime performance would be perfect for your living room or other large spaces. But a cartoon elephant sitting next to the fine china might attract the wrong kind of attention from guests.
Rounding it up, we found the process of cleaning this humidifier to be one of the easiest of any humidifier. Most of the parts are detachable, including the fill tank, the mist nozzle, and others.
Overall, it’s a humidifier worth looking into, though it might look a bit childish at first.
Pros
- Fun toy-like design, perfect for baby nurseries
- Various animal-inspired characters offered
- Well-built and durable
- Ultrasonic water pump
- Finest, micron-sized mist production
- 1-gallon water tank
- 18-hour runtime
- Adjustable mist levels
- 360-degree adjustable nozzle
- Coverage rating of around 500 sq-ft
- Whisper-quiet operation
- Detachable parts make cleaning a cinch
Cons
- May look out of place in rooms other than baby/child rooms.
